When the NERF war gets tougher, your NERF gun should get tougher! In this post, I’ll be looking at the best NERF guns to modify and why.
Enthusiasts of NERF wars need to modify their arsenal to suit their different interests. For example, one person may want to increase the shooting range, while another person might want to enhance the rate of darts fired per second (FPS).
Warning: be careful when modifying guns because the practice may be illegal. With this warning in mind, please check with your local police or safety authorities if it’s okay to change or modify the features of each NERF gun. By doing this, you will be able to enjoy the new capabilities of your gun, safe in the knowledge that you have acted legally and responsibly when modifying your NERF, and avoid getting into trouble with the law.
What is the best NERF gun to modify?
There are many advantages to modifying a NERF gun, and I’d go so far as to say the biggest rewards are not the new features you’ll create but the community and forums you’ll find along the way – I have met some truly awesome, helpful people who only want to help you learn to grow your NERF collection and loadout.
One of the best things about modding is almost anyone can do it. Don’t be put off by some of the super in-depth online tutorials out there, once you know how to do it, you’ll become as obsessed as I am! All you will need are some simple tools, including, but not limited to:
- A pipe cuter
- A hacksaw
- Sandpaper (a few different grades)
- Epoxy putty
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- A rotary tool (Dremel is a great brand)
Children should always be supervised when using any kind of hardware, glues/resins, and hand tools.
I have compiled the following list of guns in order of what I think are the best blasters to modify, however, I highly advise you check each one out for yourself. You have nothing to lose by doing this, you’ll grow your arsenal and in the process become a modding master!
NERF N-Strike Maverick Rev-6 Blaster
The NERF Maverick has become my favorite blaster to modify. This pistol is a great choice for anyone who is into modding and customizing NERF guns. Although some disassembly is required, it is also a great choice for beginners. The pistol’s shape makes it super easy to paint, which is the first step in any modification.
The NERF Maverick is suitable for children aged six and up, but any NERF enthusiast will find it very useful after modification, especially in a NERF war.
This is an air-powered blaster, so no battery modification is required. The rotating 6-dart barrel is super easy to reload and has brilliant accuracy. It would be a great addition to any loadout, whether modified or not!
The blaster weighs 1.15 pounds as it is, but it will most certainly weigh a little bit more after modification.
NERF N-Strike Elite Mega CycloneShock Blaster
The CycloneShock is a revolver-style blaster with a 6-dart cylinder. It comes with a tactical rail that is compatible with accessories in the N-Strike category, which makes it one of the most interesting and versatile NERF guns to modify.
As you can now determine the number of darts unleashed in a second, your experience on the battlefield has just gotten interesting. Simply pump the Slam Fire handle while pulling the trigger and mesmerize your opponents with the obvious power.
To make matters better, it boasts of long-range shooting abilities, just like other N-Strike Elite blasters. With six elite darts, you will have the upper hand when it comes to speed because it is easy to load and reload the darts. While the length of the Strongarm is just 3 inches, it weighs a pound.
NERF N-Strike Elite Rayven Cs-18 Blaster
NERF N-Strike Elite Rayven Cs-18 Blaster already comes prepared for serious action, but you can enhance its power and shooting range. In addition, modify the clips and attach glowing darts to add flair to the game, especially in the dark. You will easily follow the glowing darts that come with this NERF gun. Similarly, you will trace the glow and retrieve them easily for collection after the NERF war is over.
The fact that it can take 18 darts at once is an advantage for you. While your opponents struggle with a couple of guns, you will take them out and win the bragging rights with relative ease. Buy additional accessories and attach them to the tactical rail. For this reason, it is one of the best NERF guns to modify in preparation for your next mission. This blaster measures 17.1 inches in length, 12.1 inches in height, and 3.1 inches in width.
NERF N-Strike Vulcan EBF-25 Dart Blaster
Increase the firing rate of three darts per second and achieve an excellent blaster out of the Vulcan EBF-25 today. With an adjustable stock and the tactical rail, there is nothing you can’t achieve. As it is a battery-operated NERF gun, you may have to buy batteries more regularly after modification.
Just as the name suggests, it comes with 25 whistler darts and a 25-dart belt that you can adjust for the better. In addition, you will benefit from an ammo box to store your arsenal, and an instructional manual to learn tricks and turns of maneuvering the battlefield.
